“Effective School and Community College Board Leadership: Avoiding the Legal Pitfalls”

November 17, 2004

Following the November 2004 elections, Stutz Artiano hosted the free legal workshop, “Effective School and Community College Board Leadership: Avoiding the Legal Pitfalls,” for new and returning school and community college board members throughout San Diego County.

Education attorneys, Tina Dyer, Paul Carelli and Kelly Angell, presented information focusing on the legal rights and responsibilities of school and community college board members. Overviews of, and new laws surrounding the Brown Act, California Public Records Act, conflicts of interest and prohibited campaign activities were discussed in an effort to equip board members with the necessary information to be effective and informed in their board leadership.

The program was held twice, at Stutz Artiano’s San Diego office on November 17, and at the Olympic Resort Hotel & Spa, in Carlsbad on November 18. Participants received a free copy of “Avoiding the Legal Pitfalls” workbook as well.
